I have a particular interest in data protection and information privacy law (GDPR) and have advised individual and corporate clients in relation to compliance and potential litigation following a breach. I teach a professional training course on GDPR compliance (to lawyers and IT professionals) and lecture on aspects of data protection law and practice.

In England and Wales I am a consultant in-house counsel for some firms of solicitors and I no longer accept instructions directly or through chambers in that jurisdiction.

I am regulated by the Bar Standards Board (BSB) in relation to my practice in England and Wales and by the Legal Services Regulation Authority (LSRA) in relation to my practice in Ireland.

In Ireland I can be instructed via any Irish Solicitor's firm which is authorised to practise in the State. Under certain limited circumstances I can be instructed directly by organisations qualified under the Bar Direct Professional Access scheme or by a foreign lawyer.

Instructing me

I can accept instructions via any Solicitor authorised to practise in Ireland in relation to Irish law matters. I cannot advise members of the public directly and I will not engage in correspondence outside of proper instructions. This is to protect you as much as me because my professional indemnity insurance does not cover the giving of ad-hoc advice otherwise than when properly instructed.
