Career - potted history

I have worked in defence electronics in the fields of antennas, communications systems and electronic warfare, and in the telecommunications industry as a technical consultant. I am managing director of Peak Intelligence Ltd, a small telecommunications consultancy.

In 2002 I commenced a career transition to law and I was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2008. Having been unsuccessful in finding a pupillage, I cross-qualified and was admitted as a Solicitor in 2012, gaining Higher Rights of Audience in criminal proceedings in 2013 and in civil proceedings in early 2014. After a short period of practice as a Solicitor Advocate I received a full exemption from pupillage from the Bar Standards Board and commenced my practice as a Barrister at Holborn Chambers on 1st July 2014. Between 1st January 2017 and 30th April 2018 I practised at Invictus Chambers and from 1st May, following the dissolution of Invictus Chambers, I have practised at 10 King's Bench Walk where my main area of interest is data protection and information privacy.

I have been an amateur radio operator since the age of 15. I am a keen photographer and contribute to a stock photography web site. I also enjoy classic cars and was Registrar of the Bristol Owners' Club for several years and am now a member of the Bristol Owners and Drivers Association.

I own a motor cruiser jointly with my wife and I am working on obtaining navigation and practical qualifications leading to an International Certificate for Operators of Pleasure Craft (ICC).

I have a separate web site for my Amateur (Ham) Radio activities and my stock photography is held, for the most part, on Stock Exchange, a free open-source stock photography web site, so that others can make use of the images, if there is any use to be made of them.
